The annual 5km fun run in aid of St Johns National School, Monasterevin took place for the fifth consecutive year on Sunday 10th March 2019.

Knowing that school plays an important role in facilitating the all-round development of our young people, Bord na Móna Recycling was delighted to send two special and well-loved characters to take part in the run and support the school.  There was great excitement amongst the crowd on the arrival and attendance of Annie and Evan!

A formidable spirit was on show from locals who braved the weather and fought the excuses to take a rest. Despite the hail, snow and rain on the day, 215 people lined up to run the race. It was a fantastic testament to local giving and community togetherness.

The quickest time was from Cian McDonald with a super time of 16 minutes 50 seconds. Unfortunately, Annie and Evan did not do so well and have committed to preparing a training plan for next year. Nonetheless, they enjoyed a hard-earned hot chocolate after the race!

As part of our commitment to community groups, Bord na Móna Recycling was delighted to contribute €1000 to the fundraising on the day. Congratulations to all those who took part. You can see more photos of the fantastic day here at
