Bord na Móna Recycling believes in giving back. This is why every year we support charities and our local communities. We decided to set up the Drehid Community Gain Fund for this purpose. In 2023, we have awarded a total of €179,560 to local groups through this fund.
The Drehid Community Gain Fund was started after the development of our Drehid Waste Management Facility in 2008. We wanted to ensure we were giving back to the local community in the area and helping the community spirit to grow. Local Drehid clubs, associations, and other community groups apply for funding to help with various community-based initiatives and improvement projects. We are honored to have the opportunity to support some of these amazing projects and initiatives.
The grant scheme is administered by Kildare County Council, and a community liaison committee assesses the grant applications and makes recommendations on funding decisions.
Since the inception of this scheme, grants totaling over €3.9 million have been awarded to projects in the community including community groups, resident associations, youth and scout groups, sporting organisations, charities, tidy town committees, schools, and environmental and heritage groups.
Bord na Móna Recycling will continue supporting all these organisations in 2024 through this fund.
