Bord na Móna Recycling is excited to announce the Top 10 Entries in the inaugural Secondary Schools Challenge, a competition centered around the U.N Sustainable Development Goals, known as the SDG’s.
The SDG’s are 17 global objectives designed to address the world’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, and peace and justice. Their aim to create a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for all.
Students were tasked with choosing a minimum of one SDG and upcycling discarded items or materials typically considered as waste to solve an element of the goal and bring awareness to the issue.
Every project showed fantastic innovation and heart — making the judges decision very difficult. After careful deliberation, we are excited to announce our Top 10 Finalists (in no particular order):
▪️ Tullamore College, Offaly
▪️ Scoil Aireagail, Kilkenny
▪️ Henrietta Street School, Dublin
▪️ Killorglin Community College, Kerry
▪️ St. Oliver Post Primary School, Meath
▪️ St. Brendan’s Community School, Offaly
▪️ Colaiste Ide agus Iosef, Limerick
▪️ Moate Community School, Westmeath
▪️ Tullamore College, Offaly
▪️ Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Kerry
Students will now be invited to present their project and field questions from a panel of expert judges in the final round.
Thank you to all the incredible students and schools who took part. The creativity, innovation, and passion you showed was truly remarkable, and we wish the very best of luck to our 10 finalists next week.
